Science Foundation Ireland President of Ireland Young Researcher Award (POYRA) 2021-2022

The Science Foundation Ireland President of Ireland Young Researcher Award was established in 2007 to recognize exceptional young researchers early in their careers. The awards are open to candidates whose work is carried out in any area of science, technology, or engineering in an Irish higher education institute or research institution.

The award will provide funding for five years for a major research program that will help the recipient to establish a strong independent research career. The objective is to fund excellent researchers and help them to build their teams and become leaders in their fields.

The award includes:

  • Research funding of €150,000 per year, direct costs only;
  • this must be used to cover the costs of the Fellow’s time (minimum 50% FTE) and a limited amount of Ph.D. student support and consumables.
  • A discretionary budget of €10k per year for 5 years for activities such as travel, research visits (if not covered by other sources), training and workshops, participation in conferences/seminars, etc.
  • This can also be used towards indirect costs e.g., equipment leasing/purchase, software licenses, etc.

Eiffel Excellence Master’s Scholarships at University College Cork, Ireland 2022

The University College Cork is offering Eiffel Excellence Master’s Scholarships for international students. These scholarships will be awarded to outstanding international candidates who wish to study full-time postgraduate taught programs.

University College Cork (UCC) is a constituent university of the National University of Ireland and is located in Cork. The university was founded in 1845 as one of three Queen’s Colleges at Cork, Galway, and Belfast. It became University College, Cork, under the Irish Universities Act of 1908.

The scholarship will provide a monthly stipend of EUR 1,181 for a period of 10 months from September 2021 to June 2022.

The purpose of the Eiffel Excellence Master’s Scholarship is to provide funding for French nationals accepted on a taught postgraduate program at UCC.

Funding of the scholarship will cover the following:
  • Full tuition fees
  • €1,000 per month stipend for living costs
  • The scholarship is tenable for one academic year and is subject to satisfactory progress.

Eligibility and Criteria:

  • Applicants must be citizens of France and currently reside in France
  • Applicants must have completed their undergraduate studies in France.
  • Applicants must hold an offer of admission for a full-time taught master’s programme at UCC on or before 1st July 2022.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate (EMJDs) in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (MAREBEC) for Developing Countries, Ireland 2022[Fully Funded]

The MAREBEC program is a joint initiative of the Universitat de Barcelona, Spain, the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, and the University of St Andrews, United Kingdom. The MAREBEC program aims to provide high-quality training at a Ph.D. level in different aspects related to marine biodiversity and conservation. It seeks to develop an interdisciplinary group of students with a common background in basic sciences who will be trained in research work on biodiversity and biodiversity conservation. In addition to their home institutions, students will spend a minimum of 3 months studying at one or more partner institutions abroad.

  • The European Union is looking for applicants to apply for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate (EMJDs) in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (MAREBEC) funded by the European Commission. This is a fully-funded scholarship program for developing countries.
  • Scholarships are provided to international students from all nationalities.
  • The duration of this fully-funded scholarship program is 2 years and 4 months.
  • The language of instruction will be English. There are various disciplines offered in this scholarship program.

The MAREBEC program is a collaboration among seven leading European universities in marine science: the University of Bremen, the University of Copenhagen, the University of Lisbon, the University of Plymouth, the University of Siena, the Ghent University, and the Technical University of Denmark.

These universities offer one joint Ph.D. program in marine biodiversity and conservation with two specializations:
